The local Thornbury Guiding units enrolled their new members Nov 8. This is the night girls become official members of their units. There is program work each girl completes to reach this point.
We started our night off with a special presentation. Alicia Noakes, our Administrative Community Leader (ACL) from Kincardine, presented long time Guider Barbara Loucks with her Gold Unit Guider Award. This was a surprise to Barb and the girls alike. It was wonderful to recognize someone who has been an active member of our local Brownie unit.
Each unit did their traditional opening then we started enrolment with Sparks, then Brownies, Guides and Pathfinders. Yes! This year we do have a small group of Pathfinders! Enrolment for each girl consisted of saying their promise, receiving their appropriate unit pin, having a parent tie their scarf on them for the first time, and receiving an enrolment certificate.
Our evening concluded with traditional closing songs by each unit.
We are looking for a woman more than 18 years old to help in our Spark unit. If you or anyone you know is interested, please have them call Shirley at 519-599-3968. We’d love to hear from someone in our community interested in seeing Guiding continue to grow!
