Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged a male recently in regards to a shoplifting incident at the LCBO store in Thornbury.
On July 26, 2017 shortly before 11:00am police were called to attend the LCBO store on Arthur Street in Thornbury in regards to a theft incident where the suspect was seen leaving the area on a riding lawn mower. Officers located the male a short time later operating the riding mower and interactions with the operator found that he was under the influence of alcohol. The officer conducted a roadside breath test on the male that found that he was within the ‘warn range’ and resulted in a 3-day license suspension.
Upon further investigation, it was found that the male was in possession of a bottle of alcohol which had been taken from LCBO.
Charged is 37 year-old Matthew WHITE of Etobicoke, he is facing a charge of theft under $5000 and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on August 17, 2017.
