Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a male driver last night as a result of an incident on Highway 26 in The Blue Mountains.
On February 1, 2018 at approximately 10:30pm officers along with Grey County Paramedics were called to the area of Highway 26 and Timmons Street in regards to a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle who failed to remain at the scene.
The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries while officers began investigating the incident and eventually located the driver and the involved vehicle. The male driver was subsequently arrested and transported to Collingwood OPP detachment for processing.
Charged is 28 year-old Derry SYLVESTER of Collingwood, he is facing charges of Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol Causing Bodily Harm, Exceed 80 Milligrams of Blood Alcohol Content Causing Bodily Harm and Failing to Stop at Scene of Accident Involving Bodily Harm. He is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on March 1, 2018.
