By Helen Solmes, Freelance Reporter – Beaver Valley Community School students gave a hearty round of applause on April 25 to their classmates who placed in the top three in the school’s Remembrance Day poster and literary contest, sponsored by the Royal Canadian Legion Zone E4 Branch 281.

The student entries were judged by a panel of RCL members. Winners were selected based on several criteria including creativity, neatness, and spelling.

Among the winners were three students whose entries went on to claim second- and third-place honours at the Zone E4 level: Ava Koo who won third-place honours; Bronwyn Richter, second place; and Griffin Levy, second place.

The RCL Branch 281 also took the opportunity to present the Grade 8 students with a cheque for $500 towards their end-of-year trip to Ottawa.
