Art town

Are you aware that works of art on display at the Town of The Blue Mountains Town Hall are part of an annual year-long exhibit?

The exhibition under the Municipal Art Program (MAP) is an initiative administered by the Town’s Public Art Committee.  Currently the artwork displayed showcases the diverse talents of 15 regional artists with 21 works of art. While the works are on loan to the Town for a period of one year, the purpose of the program is to promote regional artists, so purchases are encouraged!

The current exhibition will only be on display until May. To learn more about MAP, why not stop by Town Hall and pick up the current MAP brochure (available just inside the front doors) and enjoy a self-guided tour of the works on display throughout the building. Town Hall is located at 32 Mill Street, Thornbury and is open for touring Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The February 28, 2017 deadline for artists to submit entries for the upcoming Municipal Art Program jury is fast approaching. The call is a reminder to artists of the annual deadline for submitting art for consideration by the jury. For more information and to download a submission form we invite you to visit www.thebluemountains.ca/map.cfm. The website also includes links to all the MAP brochures since the program’s inception, giving anyone who is interested in the arts an overview of all the artists who have been featured at Town Hall.
